Economic Development 

Lewis County, the forty-eighth county in order of formation, covers 484 square miles of land area, 11.2 square miles of water area, and is located in northeastern Kentucky along the Ohio River.  Lewis County is located about 90 miles northeast of Lexington, 70 miles southeast of Cincinnati, OH and less than 50 miles west of Huntington, WV.  Founded in 1806, Lewis County is named for Meriwether Lewis of the Lewis and Clark expedition.

The Lewis County Industrial Authority currently has The Lewis County "Black Oak" Industrial Park, and The Tollesboro Industrial Park.

The Lewis County Industrial Park, near the Ohio River just east of Vanceburg, has 118 acres, and is 30 minutes from I-64.  The Lewis County  Industrial Park is currently comprised of Coroplast, and Superior Composits Co., LLC.





Coroplast is North America's market share leader and largest manufacturer of corrugated plastic sheet for signs and re-usable packaging.  Opening in 1973 in Montreal Canada, Coroplast first began selling corrugated plastic to the Canadian market.  

In July 1985 Coroplast opened its Dallas, Texas manufacturing plant. In 1986, it was expanded to include the administrative functions for the company. Coroplast become a part of The Jim Pattison Group in 1990 through their acquisition of Innopac. In 2001, Coroplast opened their third manufacturing plant here in Vanceburg, Kentucky. Coroplast acquired the plastic corrugated division of Spartech located in Cornwall, Ontario, in 2005.


 Superior Composits Co., LLC

Superior Composits Co., LLC was established in 1984 by a group of private investors, and has developed a significant leadership position in several key markets. Residential and commercial HVAC air filtration, Fiberglass reinforcement materials, Fiberglass Filter Media, and polyester fiber media are Superior Fibers main products.

Superior Composits Co., LLC operates six facilities and employs approximately 500 people in 4 states as well as two international offices located in the United Kingdom.

The products that are produced at the Vanceburg plant are distributed throughout the United States and around the world.

Northern Contours focus is to supply components using “membrane press” technology. Differing from their competitors, they have developed processes of short lead-times, exceptional flexibility, and friendly service. Their passion for excellence and understanding customer needs has ensured their continued growth and success.

Northern Contours continues to invest heavily in state-of-the-art equipment to provide a perfect balance of quality and value. Northern Contours employs over 500 people in six locations covering three states

Northern Contours operates two manufacturing plants in Lewis County.  Kitchen cabinet doors, bath and closet cabinet doors, work surfaces and custom store fixtures are Northern Contours specialty.  Both are located in Vanceburg, one at 174 Lions Lane, and the other is located at 742 W KY 8.
